Position: Early Childhood Ministry Coordinator (part-time, 28 hrs/week)
Organization: Lee's Summit Community Church
Reports to: Director of Kids Ministry
Mission: To equip the family to train their children to become spiritually fit followers of Christ on God's mission within the nursery/preschool ministry at Lee's Summit Community Church.
Position Overview: Under the direction of the Kids Ministry Director, is responsible for directing, managing and coordinating children's ministry programs from birth through kindergarten including volunteers, events, curriculum, budget,
environment and security.
Areas of Responsibility:
Education
- Help develop and deliver programs and classes that strengthen and equip families to disciple their children
- Help coordinate and plan special events such as Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp, Fall Kick-off and other events
Volunteers
- Recruit volunteers to staff ministry programs, events & classes
- Develop a training regimen for volunteers
- Build a team approach with volunteers through frequent contact with volunteer leaders and team building exercises (i.e. regular meetings, special outings, etc.)
- Develop accountability relationships that result in reliable volunteerism
Administration
- Establish procedures that keep things running smoothly
- Develop and manage the budget in coordination with the kids ministry director
- Keep current records on volunteers (i.e. background checks & volunteer applications)
- Supply curriculum to each group leader and to volunteer teachers
- Recruit childcare for special events to encourage parent / family participation
Environment & Atmosphere
- Set a tone that communicates the love of Christ to children and their parents (patience, kindness, respect, love, faith, hope, etc.)
- Ensure classrooms are well organized, clean and well maintained; Enhance the physical environment to support the curriculum learning goals (décor and supplies)
- Ensure procedures are followed to secure the safety of children
Requirements:
- Must be able to work on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights with the remainder of hours to be worked on site Monday through Thursday
