HD Mobile Unit Engineer
Turning Point for God is the radio and television ministry of Dr. David Jeremiah, senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church. It is an international ministry with a vision to reach every language group in the world with the Gospel and the teachings
of God’s Word. From a modest beginning thirty two years ago, Turning Point is now accessible by 2.5 billion people worldwide every day through radio, television, and the Internet.
Position Summary:
Manage and operate Turning Point’s HD Mobile Broadcast Unit during weekend services at Shadow Mountain Community Church, remote Turning Point live events (arenas), and select television shoots at Turning Point Studios – ensuring reliable, high-quality recordings
and live streams for broadcast and digital media.
Days: Sunday through Thursday, may vary
Reports To: Production Director
Essential Functions: (Including, but not limited to):
Weekly Broadcast Acquisition (Home)
- Manage all scheduling & weekly logistics for the HD Mobile Unit between Turning Point and Shadow Mountain Community Church
- Coordinate with Shadow Mountain Technical Staff to ensure a seamless technical “handshake” between the HD Mobile Unit and Worship Center, ancillary areas, web properties and satellite campuses
- Supervise and direct setup and strike crews for the HD Mobile Unit
- Coordinate with and support the Senior Television Producer / Director and Chief Audio Engineer to ensure high quality broadcast recordings
- Train the current Television Production Assistant / Assistant Engineer (E2) for backup, part-time HD Mobile Unit operation
Live Event Broadcast Acquisition (Remote)
- Manage logistics & operations of the HD Mobile Unit for all Turning Point Live Events (9-10 per year, average)
- Coordinate with contracted event production company technical staff to ensure a seamless technical “handshake” between the HD Mobile Unit and the venue systems including IMAG, ancillary feeds, core communications, etc.
- Supervise and direct setup and strike crews for the HD Mobile Unit
- Coordinate with and support the Senior Television Producer / Director and Chief Audio Engineer to ensure high quality broadcast recordings
Engineering Support
- Manage and perform all HD Mobile Unit regular / preventative maintenance and cleaning
- Physical trailer systems (brakes, suspension, wheels, air lines, roofing, air conditioning, power system, etc)
- Broadcast equipment and information systems (repairs, software / firmware updates, etc.)
- Ensure the HD Mobile Unit is fully-functioning as an audio post remix suite during the week
- Assist the Production Director in managing Turning Point Studios equipment inventory & maintenance
- Assist with logistics, setup, strike and onsite engineering support for major television shoots at Turning Point and on location, when necessary
- Facilitate as-needed maintenance for Turning Point Studios, and Turning Point systems located at SMCC
Qualifications:
- 2 - 5 years’ experience in broadcast engineering / production engineering
- Functional knowledge of broadcast technology and information systems
- Engineering, Electronics or Broadcast Production degree is desirable
- Must be willing and able to lift/push/pull equipment and systems during setup / strike
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the year
Other:
- Position is full-time at Turning Point International Headquarters in Lakeside, CA
- Includes full operation of Sunday Services
- On-call support for the PA/E2 of Saturday Services
