Here at CRISTA Senior Living our food service department is committed to re-defining food service in senior living. The Assistant Manager will oversee the Cooks and Prep Cooks and demonstrate advanced culinary skills in order to provide meals with nutritional value and creative appeal to residents and guests while ensuring high quality customer oriented services. They will maintain positive relations with our residents, guests, and staff, establish policies and procedures that result in exceptional services, solicit feedback, recommend changes/additions to Dining Services operations, and maintain effective communication systems with all stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have management experience including hiring staff, coaching, performance management, counseling, and disciplining.  S/he will have experience working in high volume food service, and knowledge of special and therapeutic diets, presentation techniques and food cost controls.  To be successful, the Manager will need to have the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, possess clear written and verbal communication skills, be competent in organizational time management, demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision making skills.  Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new applications are also required.  The ability to work weekends and a flexible work schedule.

 

QUALFICATIONS:

1. Christian Commitment: Strong personal faith in Christ, demonstrated in behavior and attitude.

2. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

3. Experience:

 Minimum one year of experience in a nutrition service department, restaurant, or a CCRC.

 Minimum one year of experience in supervision and management of staff.

 Ability to prepare menu items as directed.

 Ability to safely operate all job related equipment.

 Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets, presentation techniques and food cost controls.

4. Licensure/Certification:

 Current Washington State Food Handler’s Permit.

 Current Serve Safe certificate.

5. Other Considerations:

 Read, write, communicate in and interpret English at a functional level.

 Ability to present information one-on-one and in small groups.

 Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 Ability to read, write and follow recipes.

 Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to carry out instructions.

 Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, staff and residents.

 Knowledge and ability to perform any task necessary to maintain kitchen operation.

 6. Software and Equipment Used: Basic knowledge of Word, Excel and other pertinent computing and software applications.
