Pastor

Big Darby Baptist Church is seeking a Pastor/Teacher/Shepherd to preach the word of God; (guided by Luke 10:27) and teach us how to apply it in our day to day lives, with the goal of being equipped to do God’s work.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27 NIV)

Responsibilities:

• Spiritual Leadership; Imparting wisdom/teaching us how to apply God’s word to our day to day lives.
• Ø 2 Timothy 4:1-2; “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.”
• Ø Ephesians 4:11-16; “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
• Ø 2 Timothy 2:2; “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
• Shepherding Leadership; caring/nurturing
• Ø 1 Peter 5:2-4; “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away."
• Ø Romans 12:14-16; “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”
• Outreach Leadership; reaching the un-churched
• Ø Matthew 28:19-20; “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
